Our roundball squads have been partaking of nature's stress remedy since the early 80s at least.

With the lone exception of Chris Porter.  He went straight to the white horse.

Tied an SEC record with 21 threes last night.  Like it or not, this team is going to live or die by the three point shot.

This^^^.  When I turned it on last night, it was 25-21 Tigers.  I saw them throw up 7-8 straight 3's without hitting one.  Luckily, CC was of equal suckage during that stretch.  Then, the Tigers flipped the switch and ran away with it.  21-42 on 3 point shots.

The announcers hit the nail on the head last night when they said the 3's really started being effective when AU started penetrating and kicking it out.  Passing around the perimeter until someone feels they have a shot is never consistently effective for any team.  When you start taking it to the rack a few times and make them respect that, then you get a lot more open looks.  Dunans and Heron did a great job of that starting about half way through the first half.  Then everyone followed suit from there.

I say again Dunans is a badass.

Dunans, Purifoy, Heron, Lang.....this team should be doing some real damage in the SEC this year.

Austin Wiley is cleared to play. 6'11, 255 PF. He will play against Mercer.

He made his presence known last season and is getting right back up to speed this season.

There is crazy talent on this team, I only hope they can overcome the maddening stretches of mediocrity.

If Wiley's 6'11' 255 self is even close to being in bassetbawl shape, that would be a damn good start.  We're getting our big time recruits ready to play right at the same time Duke is getting theirs back.  A lot of similarities there.

If Dunans was not out for the BC game due tuo sickness, AU would have won by 10. There are those stretches which become hard to watch but I do think adding the big man down will help minimize that. There is more talent on this team than any AU team I can ever remember. AND...they are mostly frosh and soph.

I personally think the add of Wiley will pay dividends ASAP. I see AU taking Mercer and OK down with this combination. I'm thinking RPI babay.

We should all be pleasantly surprised if he defends well, gets a steal, maybe an assist and a blocked shot along with 4 or 5 boards with as many points. That's reasonable.

I don't look for him to immediately start putting up double, doubles as in high school. Hope this team will want to get him involved and he shows some game right away.
