What's your favorite scary movie?
« on: October 24, 2016, 11:29:39 PM »
It's Halloween time so I figured I'd throw it out there and see what you all liked in the horror/thriller/spooky genre.

I dig Halloween (1978) and the Halloween II (1981) along with several others in the 80s slasher ilk. The Shining is a winter watch for me but a good one just the same. Pet Semetery is a fun revisit from time to time.

What about you all?

Horror movies are my favorite.

Friday 13th Part 3.
Halloween I and II.
Also liked Season of the Witch although I think I was alone in that regard
Slither (skews toward funny)
Cujo
Exorcist
Omen - this and the Exorcist scared the bejesus out of me.  Watched both when I wasn't supposed to.
Texas Chainsaw (even the one with Jessica Biel)
Saw I  - IV
Hellraiser
Town that Dreaded Sundown

List could go on for a while.  The genre's gotten formulaic and stale lately though.  Most new "horror" is crap.

Exorcist

Even as an adult, that movie freaks me out.  Want to get me to go to confession?  Put that damn movie on.

I am still partial to the original Haloween and Friday the 13th.  Both are classics.
Dr. Giggles was really good for its time also, and the Saw series were all very good as well.
The Human Centipede was one of the better B Horror flicks along with Blood Sucking Freaks.

Don't know if I have a favorite because I've never been as big into horror flicks as some.  One that was always entertaining to me was Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman. Good mix of horror and suspense with some comedy thrown in.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

What was the name of the movie where Kathy Bates got naked? That scared the piss out of me. I still wake up in the middle of the night screaming like a madman.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Not sure if I would categorize those as horror.  But I guess they are.

Zombie isn't much of movie maker or a singer really.  But his movies are (usually) creepy weird enough to hold my attention (skip Lords of Salem, it was just dumb) and his concert made me feel like I needed a soul bath.  It wasn't really that bad, but it was odd.  I enjoyed it nonetheless.
