The World We Live In
« on: October 11, 2016, 11:57:33 PM »
I don't recognize this world any more.  I really don't.

I keep harping on USAToday because I go there to do a crossword in the morning to wake up my brain and theirs functions pretty well.

Today there are tons of articles condemning Trump for some braggadocio banter more than a decade ago, blasting him for exposing children to these shocking ideas, bashing him for lowering the national conversation.

And on the same front page you'll find:
1) A piece commending Miley Cyrus for her courage and strength in determining that she is neither male nor female. She's "pan" something or other.  I assume she's never taken off her pants and taken a look at what's down there.
2) An article about Joe Jonas losing his virginity.
3) A profile of "nearly naked" Gwyneth Paltrow
4) An ode to "trans" model Hari Nef (who the fuck is this ugly bitch?)
5) A piece on how Hillary is a role model

What the fuck? Trump can't say he likes women (in a crude and joking way) but Miley can talk about fucking anything that moves?  Joe Jonas can talk about getting laid?  What about the children?

Terrible.  Just terrible.

You're reading the newspaper equivalent of US magazine or a Delta in-flight periodical and bitching about the content.

Test yourself with a real crossword.

I don't know Billy Bush.  Can't say that I've ever seen or heard him.

But how the FUCK can a person be fired for an off the cuff 45 second riff of goofiness more than a decade ago?

My God, if I could be fired for every random thing I've said over my lifetime I'd be a hobo living under a bridge, unable to find work of any kind.

This is the kind of wrong that needs to be reversed.

Make it 20 or more years, change the context of what was said and ask Paula Deen.

Yeah.  I guess we should go dig my grandmother up and lynch her bones.  I should probably be put in a re-education camp because I heard the things she said.

Her dad was a farmer.  He had black folks who worked for him and lived in houses he built on his land.  They all had the same first name.  N***er.  There was N***er Jim, N***er Marvin, N***er Sally, N***er Dot.  Everybody knew them by that name and that's all I ever heard them called.  Even when referring to each other.  Why when I was just a pup, I remember N***er Jim asking me if I'd seen N***er Benny around because he was supposed to be helping get the cows moved from one pasture to the other.

Come to think of it, EVERY white person I knew back in those days talked like that.  And so did all the blacks.

That means YOUR grandmothers, grandfathers, great grandmothers and great grandfathers talked that way.  Hell, I bet some of YOUR ancestors were standing on the quad at UA when Wallace made the symbolic stand in the door.

This whitewashing (pardon the pun) of history and pretending that a person can never have said anything that might be considered offensive or they must be publicly scorned and punished is asinine.

I'm highly offended by Miley Cyrus' "I'm neither man nor woman" bullshit.  But nope. We celebrate that.  We celebrate Cover Girls' new Cover Boy because he's fierce!

Fuck it all.

Yeah, the liberal elites like to act like the good old days were the worst thing ever and words are the biggest weapons. However, screaming God Hates Fags is still not as scary to me as a person with a pound of C4 laced with BBs and ready to hit the button in the name of Jihad. But what do I know? I'm a white guy.

Its the road we are heading down, we are in bazzaro world. Think back to the forties (even I wasn't alive then) Hollywood was the main supporter of the military and the war effort. Can you picture anybody from there doing anything pro-America? Every decade has seen things change, some for the best, some for the worse. For folks like us, (Working folks) this is a bad time, and prolly only going to get worse. Too many people wanting stuff instead of earning, making their own way.

We have gone from "Ask not what your country can do" to "What is going to be done for me"?

Didn't like Jeb much as far as a candidate. But he's a nice guy. Doesn't surprise me. Doesn't seem like a guy that would use that. And like chad said, it puts cousin billy in the crosshairs.

White Privilege survey forced on teachers in Colorado.

"It was designed to make people aware that their experiences, whatever they are, wherever they come from, are not exactly the same as other people's," district spokesperson Tustin Amole responded. "This work works."

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
