Who ya' got and why?

As much as I love spending the day on the Planes, I do miss firing up the grill, filling up the cooler and kicking back to watch college football Saturdays like the one we have this week. The games GF picked for the BFTC are damn skippy. A couple I hope to see some of at a tailgate...

FSU going to Louisville. I fully realize the level of competition hasn't been stellar artois for UL so far, but daaayyyyyuuumm, what Lamar Jackson has done in those first two games is almost impossible to do against air. This is one of those games where you either go, "Well, he's not all that and a bag of BBQ Lays Chips against the big boys"....or you pencil him in as the Heisman front runner, by a lot. Something tells me it's probably the first option after watching how FSU dismantled Ole Miss in the 2nd half and stole their lunch money. I can't see Jackson getting to the corner on the Noles as easily as he did on Charlotte and the Cuse. Fisher's Felons: 35 Papa Johns: 20

Could it possibly be? Could it happen? Could Hugh Freeze go all Tuberville on Alabama and keep the streak going? I don't see it. Several reasons. Bama has more talent. OM has no running game. And for the first time, I think Paul Finedong wasn't just schlobbing the Saban knob when he said the "Ass chewing" Lord Saybinz gave Joey Freshwater had nothing to do with WKU and everything to do with the start of Ole Miss week. I think the only thing that could keep this from getting ugly is if Bama's freshman QB takes a step back against a step up in competition. As far as the good guys go, the plan is simple. Use the exact same game plan as you went in to FaggieLand with last year, with more passes added in. Last year, they went right at Myles Garrett early and often. First, because it's the smart thing to do but second, we had JJ running the show and you definitely don't want him flinging it around the field. This year, our QB is better and our WR's are definitely improved. Just don't stand in the pocket too long and don't try and run away from Garrett. I think Lousville can upset them with the FSU safety out, and I'm not sold on Alabama being able to beat ole miss yet either. Freezes is going to keep it close, and we're going to beat that Aggie ass.

Not a prediction but mildly cool story, bro that I'll leave here. Earlier today, I was talking to a buddy of mine who said he was in the Gump weekend before last. His son had a HS game in Monkeytown so he and his wife stopped at Dreamland BBQ for some grub. They were seated next to a group of extremely large young men that turned out to be about 15 players and some corches from Clemson.

While they were eating, this guy comes up to their table, Bama gear from head to toe and in typical fashion tells this table of human meat grinders, "If y'all er lucky enough to make it back to the big game, we gone whip y'alls ass. Yuk, yuk yuk." (Just like that. He went yuk yuk yuk. Okay, I threw that part in for effect) Anyways, my buddy says the players just kind of laughed it off but one of the assistants asks the guy, "Hey, who's your quarterback this year?" The guy has a blank look. "Do you know who your starting running back is?" Pop rocks going off in brain. The corch just says, "Thought so."

My friend said he busted out laughing and told the coach that was the funniest thing he'd seen in a long time. They started talking and my buddy told him they were AU fans and put up with shit like that all their lives. The coach told him they really liked Auburn and had a lot of respect for their program and fans. But THOSE fans are the most obnoxious assholes they'd ever run across.

Yeah, not really a cool story, bro. But I giggled anyway.

FSU was getting pantsed by Ole Miss because they couldn't stop the spread offense, and their freshman QB was stifled by the competition. Louisville's offense is just as potent and will have success for 4 quarters on the legs of Lamar Jackson. The pressure heats up and FSU's true freshman QB shows how young he really is.

I'm just not there yet. Both Auburn and A&M have decent defenses though I give the edge to Auburn. But Auburn and A&M also both have offenses with a tremendous amount of potential. I just see A&M's offense playing well as being more of a possibility than Auburn's offense. Will Malzahn get too cute? Will we do dumb shit? Can White continue to spread the ball around? Will Johnson have another electric run? Can Pettway really bulldoze an SEC defense? I am getting the slight feeling that I'm very wrong about this team and that we could really put a pounding on A&M. But until I see it, I don't think we'll win. I think we'll all be bitching on this board come Saturday night. I think we'll start wondering about Bobby Petrino being our coach after he leads Louisville over Florida State.

I hope you're right on the Cards. I have no idea what really turned the OM/FSU game around. My uninformed, armchair QB analysis says it looked like the Noles finally realized that the Black Bears couldn't or wouldn't run the ball, so they abandoned run defense completely and teed off on Kelley.

Sean White will leave Auburn with multiple passing awards. Will be on the Heisman list sometime in the 2017 or 2018 season and will be our next Auburn QB to play a game at that position in the NFL.
