Report: Four Auburn sophomores arrested in spring will not face suspenseMICHAEL WAYNE BRATTON | 36 MIN AGOAuburn’s chances against Clemson in the season opener may have just been given a boost, as Tiger head coach Gus Malzahn does not plan to suspend any of the four players arrested in the spring: defensive end Byron Cowart, receiver Ryan Davis and defensive backs Carlton Davis III and Jeremiah Dinson.The four sophomore players were initially charged with possession of marijuana in the second degree.“There has been a decision made,†Malzahn said Monday at SEC Media Days, according to Brandon Marcello of SEC Country. “Those four men made a mistake, we punished them and they won’t miss any time. That’s behind us. Four fine young men, they made a mistake and I’m confident they won’t make any more.â€Cowart came to Auburn ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation in 2015, however failed to live up to that lofty rating his freshman season. In eight appearances, Cowart registered six tackles and did not have a sack.Auburn kicks off the season Sept. 3 at home against the reigning ACC champion Clemson Tigers.
