Auburn police arrested defensive end Byron Cowart, cornerback Carlton Davis III, wide receiver Ryan Davis and cornerback Jeremiah Dinson at 11 p.m. Saturday night.All four are rising sophomores.
In a statement to the Opelika-Auburn News, coach Gus Malzahn said, "I am aware of the situation and we will handle this matter appropriately,"
Second-degree marijuana possession is a misdemeanor that carries a sentence of not more than a year in jail and up to a $6,000 fine.
Carlton Davis started as a true freshman and was an SEC All-Freshman team honoree after making 56 tackles and grabbing three interceptions. He was the first true freshman to start at cornerback for the Tigers since 2009.
Cowart was the nation’s No. 1 freshman last year. He played in 13 games and had six tackles last season.
Dinson suffered three torn ligaments in his right knee and dislocated shoulder on a hit against Texas A&M last season, which ended his season in early November. He had 12 tackles on the year.
Ryan Davis was a four-star recruit, but saw limited action last season.
