I was able to see Merle about 5 years ago in Hunstvegas with Jamey Johnson.  I totally expected Johnson to put on a good performance and Merle be old and washed up.  It was the exact opposite.  Johnson was bad, and Merle put on a performance like he still had the energy of a young man.  Glad I let my wife talk me into going.  Got to see a legend before he passed.
