Revised Stadium Expansion Plans

Auburn has revised its plans for the proposed renovation of the North end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium to no longer include one large video scoreboard but instead have two "smaller" scoreboards.

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said a decision was made last week to change from the plans released in December.

"We probably won't have a big scoreboard in the North end if we move forward with this project," Jacobs said Wednesday on the school's in-house coverage of National Signing Day. "We'll probably have two on the corners because that makes a better view for everybody in the stadium. Some people's view(s) were blocked with that big scoreboard just in (the) end zone.

"Right now if we were to move forward, it would be two smaller video boards. But the funny thing about it is, those two smaller ones, they say they're as big as what we used to have in the South end. So you have to put small in perspective."

How the change to two "smaller" video boards in the Northeast and Northwest corners from one large one would impact the cost of the project, which Auburn is still seeking feedback from fans to gauge interest in, is unclear.

The proposed renovation of the North end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium would also include an expanded concourse and walkways, club seating, additional concessions, new locker rooms, recruiting lounge and other amenities.

Last month, Jacobs said the cost "could definitely be higher" than the initial $145 million figure. A new cost estimate for the potential renovations is expected to be announced by the end of March and would be subject to approval from Auburn's Board of Trustees.

"We're doing a capital campaign feasibility study, so we're interviewing our fans that buy tickets, 'How much can you invest in this project?'" Jacobs said. "We're also working with architects and the engineers to get the price exactly like we want it, to get a price that we know is a solid price. Then we're going out and we're talking to people about, 'Would you buy these tickets?'

"And if the Auburn people support this idea, both in their heart and in financially, it will happen. If they don't if it's not the right time for the 'Auburn Family' for us to do this, it won't happen. ... If they say yes it will then sometime later this spring or the first of the summer we will take that to the Board (of Trustees) and ask for approval. But until we are solid and are 100 percent that we can fund this project, it's what the Auburn people want and they're going to buy the tickets and support it with a capital campaign, until then we're not moving forward. We're just going to keep working until we get to that point when we get to the point that says we're going to go or we're not going to go."

If the renovation plans are approved, construction could start after the 2016 season and be completed before the start of the 2018 season, a source told AL.com in December.

Well, if we keep having 7-6 seasons that will be about the crowd size when the expansion is done.

If I had known that you were in that end zone for 30 years, I would have definitely invited you up to the box for maybe the Arky state game. But if you haven't been able to get out of there in 30 years, not sure you'd fit in.

Unless maybe you wanted to be a server? If interested, shoot me a PM.

'13-'14 seasons we got tickets on the 20 as "normal" season tickets.  After the '14 season, we were notified that those would now be premium seats, so we opted for the "normal" ones behind the goal line with the opposing fans to boot.  This year we were informed that those would also now be premium seats.

Hope Joe has plenty of food so I can watch the games at his tailgates...

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."
