Sean starting for San Jose State
« on: September 29, 2015, 12:31:12 PM »
Didn't really know that this wasn't a given, but Gus just announced Sean would be the starter for San Jose State.   Said the decision between him and Jeremy will be week to week.

Well, they're both day to day.

I saw an article that just said Gus wasn't asked on his radio show and he didn't address the starter either.  I was the same way thinking it has to be a given.  Admit that I was holding my breath a little thinking, "There's no way he would.....NAAAAA"  "Would he?"  If he said JJ, I would have to say:

Something is NOT right at Auburn!

Here's the thing I read some of the comments & articles on al.com (I know, I know) about how it was stupid to put Sean White out there that we should stick with JJ.

Are these people watching the same game as I am?

I’m not sure with JJ we would have even been in the redzone 4 times, fuck the fact we didn’t score.

Yeah, you ride White until he proves he's not the man.  Heard someone call in this morning blasting Malzahn for the red zone play calling going back to the Bama game.  Some people just look for shit to be pissed off about.  The next caller nailed it.  In the Bama game, Gus Malzahn didn't make a bad pass to Duke in the endzone.  Gus Malzahn didn't drop that TD pass in the end zone against Bama either.  Sammie did.  Gus didn't throw the INT Saturday.  Sean did.  Gus didn't snap the ball over Sean's head at the goal line Saturday.  Golson did.

Just execute on a few of those plays Saturday night and the whole mood of the Auburn nation is different.

It would have been 38-3. Not joking.

I agree with White starting. But I do think Johnson throws a more accurate interception.

Yessir.

JJ starts that game and its over much quicker. And not even close. And you probably see a lot more quit in OTHER players.

Exactly.

LSU got out of hand as soon as JJ threw the ball backwards. The defense was going against an extremely physical offense, and they had no reason to keep throwing their bodies at LF when they knew JJ would be shitting the bed.

If Miss State goes up 7 and JJ throws an immediate interception, that game turns into another blowout.

White is the future, if we're going to have an average season might as well give the kid some seat time.

It may very well be that we can improve with White over the course of the season. But it's a long season and it's not out of the realm we see JJ some. Anybody's guess how he responds but I have to pull for the poor guy. It was mentioned on the OD, I think by Del Greco that he might eventually transfer and that might be his best option. Maybe a change of scenery will do the trick. Either way...I'll pull for him.

I could see Johnson transferring, he still has a redshirt year. Bobby Patrino might like to have him.

And this is the kind of thought that Gus needs to get out of his head. The emotional side. The pity party.

See, I'm getting the sense that Gus had broken through that mindset. Almost every play there were three or four guys coming in and out on offense. As a matter of fact, Gus didn't run the hurry very often. I don't think that had much to do with Sean being an SEC virgin but had more to do with Gus playing as people as he could to nail down his go to guys.
