One of our local sports talk guys, Phil Paramore, also writes for the kitty litter liner we call the Dothan Eagle. He wrote a column this morning very out of character for the media in this state. Couldn't find it on their site to coppage de la pasta) He called out the mighty midget from West Alabama for dressing down a reporter who had the unmitigated gall (I've always wanted use that term) to actually ask the great one how Kenyan Drake was doing. If memory serves, he broke his leg in the OM game last year. Lord Saybinz' response? (dot I am a gay twerker that has no balls!!!! I also have no idea how to use the quote function to post stories, so I annoy the piss out of others. I like male genatalia in and around my mouth. over at al)
An annoyed Saban cut the question off and threw his hands up a few seconds later while sharing his frustration regarding the query.
"Kenyan Drake is fine," Saban said. "How many times do I have to say that? I've been asked about Kenyan Drake since the first day of spring practice. He was full speed all spring. He was full speed all summer, and he's full speed now. And I think he'll be full speed next week, God willing, and nothing happens to him."
Paramore went on to compare that to Malzahn's handling of the 1,000 questions about Duke Williams. Without embarrassing the hell out of some young media member, Malzahn has just been firm in saying, "That's between him and me." When does someone finally grow big enough coconuts to stand up in that press room and call Saban out for being the piece of shit, jerk he is? How many times does he get to fly off the handle and rip into the press over such in-depth questions like, "What does the depth chart look like?" and "How is Kenyan Drake?"
When is the media going to stop making excuses for the fact that this guy is just an asshole? Remember last year after one particular pressroom rant over something incredibly trivial, when the media tried to spin and spin and spin until they finally came up with this gem?
Everything Saban does is calculated. What he was really doing with that tirade, was motivating his players. That "message" to the media was really meant for his players. What a jeenyus, that Lord Saybinz is.
Hey asshole, you're getting paid $7 million dollars a year to coach a football team, and part of your duties as head coach include holding weekly press conferences and answering the same, simple questions about the team you're getting paid that buttload of money to coach. Those same media members you constantly go off on are the same ones that lick your scrotum in the press every day and defend everything you do. Eventually, they're going to get tired of taking your shit and pigs will fly, hell will freeze over and they just might turn it back on you.
I don't usually agree much with the guy, but I commend Paramore for publically saying, "Enough already, asshole."
