Good song. Too bad I don't know the world any more.
I'm not that old. But my generation has endured more social upheaval and change than any in the history of mankind. I don't think I can take much more.
>> Target is taking gender labels off items in its stores. Today it's toys and assorted other things. Tomorrow it will be clothes and shoes. Lady wants to buy a bra and panties for her infant son? By all means! He's not old enough yet to decide what he wants to be. He might one day wake up and dislike his little pee-pee and decide to be Raylene instead of Ray. We shouldn't force him to decide that when he's so young.
Think I'm kidding?
This from Time Magazine in the wake of the Target decision:
To me, Target’s move is just the tip of the iceberg. We need to pressure manufacturers to get rid of the labeling on the products. We need to pressure advertisers to lose the labeling in their commercials. We need to tell ourselves that “girl†and “boy†interests do not exist. Every child is an individual, and we have a duty to find out who each and every one of them is instead of lumping children into categories before they can speak for themselves.
Girl and boy interests DO fucking exist. People are made differently for a reason. Boys and girls. Birds and bees.
>>There's a movie coming out with that bug-eyed Sarandon wacko and Naomi Watts where some girl decides it's a boy and everybody is cool with it except for cro-magnon Daddy. The people embracing the insanity of "deciding" you're a boy when you're really a girl are portrayed as the sane, level-headed, loving ones. Those who oppose the change are knuckle-dragging miscreants, lost in the past. It's APALLING to me.
When I was growing up, freaks like this were rightfully put away or hidden. We didn't embrace gender bending shit like this.
>> That fucking Jace TV show. Kid's not yet ten and the parents are all encouraging "him" to decide he's really a girl. And then the freak laments that it "has trouble with boys." YEAH, you fucking weirdo. Boys don't much care for girls with DICKS.
It's just too much. I weathered the whole Civil Rights thing. I survived bra burning and women's liberation. I dealt with reel-to-reel to vinyl to, 8-Track to cassette to CD, I handled the media going from reporting the news to making the news, I've seen wars and terrorist attacks, I've seen prayer taken out of school and black folks put up in there, girls playing baseball, women demanding access to the men's lockerroom, lesbians all over soccer, queers all over TV, the condemnation of the rebel flag, a muslim president, people making heroes out of losers like Kim Kardashian and Dale Earnhardt while our soldiers are mistreated.
At some point it just becomes god damned enough. I'm getting to that point.
