Thanks for the history lesson. Enlightening as always but my reference was re: an example of home grown terrorism. So, unless you are talking about dropping a fat man on Detroit, L.A., St. Louis, etc., your example bombed.
But, come to think of it, you were likely talking about that.
We don't have the stomach as a nation for annihilation of a heavily populated area. Our leaders of the past would even balk at such under the current political climate. The Japanese weren't dispersed across the globe as the Muslims are and with the Japanese we were fighting a conventional army and nationalism, not a ancient idealism that has been engrained in them since birth. And had we not dragged our heals to begin with entering WWII even that ending might have been averted.
