Twenty-eight newcomers are enrolled and in classes on Auburn's campus this summer and now we know what jersey number each player will wear in the fall.

Auburn released its pre-season roster at SEC Media Days. The roster includes 32 first-year players at Auburn, including center Austin Golson, who sat out last season due to NCAA transfer rules.

A few notable numbers:
•Newcomer Byron Cowart, the nation's No. 1 defensive end, will wear No. 9 this upcoming season.
•Michigan transfer Blake Countess will wear No. 24
•Former Madison Academy running back Kerryon Johnson will don No. 21
•Safety Tray Matthews is listed with No. 39, but the Georgia transfer tweeted earlier this summer he will wear No. 28.

Number 81 in your programs, number 1 in your hearts, is my pick to kick some serious ass out of this class.  It may not be right away because we roll 5 deep X 250 at every receiver slot.  But this kid gone be special.  And yes, the 277 for Cowart not only moved it, I had to reach down and adjust the furniture.

Also, I heard a caller on sports talk today talking about how all the kick ass D-linemen and LB's under Muschamp at UF wore single digit numbers.  Noticed Davonte Lambert switched to #6.  Byron Cowart takes #9.  Montraviosity@aliciousness Adams is already #1 and Cass has #8.

And if you drop one of the 5's off Carl Lawson's #55...well...that'd make him #5.  Coincidence?  I think not.
