This is really the worst kind of thing that can happen. It's one thing to be killed serving a warrant, or answering a call, or on a traffic stop. An ambush is the worst kind of incident. Officers who would normally be friendly and approachable by common citizen at gas station now has to wonder if the man coming to shake his hand isn't coming to shoot or have a violent confrontation.
