C.J. Uzomah has memories he will cherish forever when his Auburn career ends this season.
The Auburn tight end's game-winning touchdown catch against Mississippi State, an SEC championship and a game-tying touchdown against Alabama last season certainly stand out.
He'll also fondly remember the Iron Bowl and the surreal moments he has witnessed on and off the field. Auburn's 34-28 victory on Chris Davis' return of a missed field goal as time expired last season is at the top, of course, and he's expecting a "nasty" atmosphere when the Tigers (8-3, 4-3 SEC) enter Bryant-Denny stadium in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
How nasty?
"Obviously, the Alabama game last year was probably the highlight of my football career, but this is going to be up there," Uzomah said. "Their fans are going to be nasty. I don't know what they're going to be saying or doing but I know little kids flip you off sometimes. I guarantee all little 5-year-olds are going to be saying something toward us."
Yes, Uzomah reiterated, a small child dressed in Alabama gear gave the Tigers the one-finger salute at the 2012 Iron Bowl. Alabama won 49-0.
Auburn's C.J. Uzomah remembers 5-year-old Alabama fan giving him the bird
Auburn tight end C.J. Uzomah is looking forward to his final Iron Bowl. He recalls the last time he was in Tuscaloosa, when he says a 5-year-old Alabama fan flipped him off.
"I honestly saw a 5-year-old flip me off," Uzomah said. "And that's when I was like, this is real life, this is really happening. I don't know if I can see that topped. If I see a little baby flip me off, that's probably going to top it. It's pretty intense."
Bryant-Denny Stadium will be the loudest venue yet for the Tigers on the road. A trip to the SEC Championship and College Football Playoff is on the line for Alabama (10-1, 6-1), which may need a win in the season finale to advance to Atlanta. A loss by Mississippi State at Ole Miss on Saturday would also assure the Tide a spot in the SEC Championship.
Auburn will try to play the part of spoiler as looks to improve its bowl stock and win back-to-back games in the Iron Bowl for the first time since Tommy Tuberville's Tigers won six in a row from 2002 through 2007.
