Mrs Dallas has her beat in the chesticles department. Plus your wife showers and doesn't smoke pounds of weed so she's ahead there too.

True, but she has Mrs. Dallas beat in the checking account dept.

I don't look at it like a demotion, you are going from somewhere you really can't win (and he hasn't) to the power conference. He comes and changes (let's say AU) our defense, makes us top ten again and that opens up new doors for him later on. Waiting on another HC gig after leaving ISU gives him few options. (IMO)

This is very true. Getting canned at ISU as head coach and going to a top notch school as DC is a very decent move and puts him back on track for a smaller HC gig later if he does well. No one is going to be lining up to hire Rhodes for anything other than a DC position right now.

Btw, Coach Rocker is no Defensive Coordinator...there's a reason why he hasn't been a DC anywhere he's been, minus Auburn High School (iirc). He's good with one group, he'll have those players running through brick walls for him, but to have control over the entire Defense? No. He would be in over his head. Just because he's a hell of a position coach does not mean he'd be a hell of a coordinator...same goes for coordinators and being a HCs.

For a DC I think that would be a damn good hire.  You know where I stand on Tuberville and that I am not his biggest fan.  Never have been.  But he is a great defensive mind and was real high on Paul Rhoads.  Tired to hire him before he hired Muschamp.  Despite what happened at the end of the 08 season, Rhoads had us ranked #2 in total defense until the wheels feel off and we still managed to stay a top 20 D under him.
Fuck yeah. Let's get him. Paul Rhoads is very, very similar to Muschamp intense as a mutha fucka and makes you bring your hard hat and lunch pale to work everyday.

Rhoads
Muschamp
Either one of those will be fine.

Quick question, how's DC Brian Van Gorder doing at Notre Dame? I always thought he was being handcuffed by Coach Chizik.

Yeah I wasn't aware Rock didn't project well as a coordinator. More of a fan favorite I suppose.

Speaking of which...as a fan I know I have thrown Joe Whitt Jr.'s name out several times. He is thought of highly as a secondary coach with the Dick Labeau led Steeler defense but that too might not translate to a coordinator post in either level or even as a college position coach.

We seem to have the front seven issues addressed as far as numbers go and brought in 5 or 6 DBs but the coverage problems still exists. Maybe E.J. needs to open a cornerback academy or up the pay scale. :big:

The ND alums I work with love him.  But I think they are middle of the pack statistically.

Lots of assumptions here that EJ is out as DC. I'm not so sure. There simply isn't enough evidence of how Gus operates as HC to know if he'll start making cuts to the staff or if he'll simply stay the course. I'm afraid some of you are getting your hopes up for nothing.

As much as I hate what you just wrote, you may be right. Gus seems to be standing by his man so far. Although I do think EJ is only ONE of the issues we have.

No matter if EJ goes or stays, the discussion around here is much more civil since Chizad offed himself after the Georgia loss.

People can say what they will about Internet bullying but sometimes it works for the greater good. And no one has taken time to thank me.

I find it interesting that Vegas has Spurrier at 9/1 odds. What are his odds of retiring 5/1?

Should also be noted that in addition to the $6 mil Florida will pay Muschamp to not be there, some of those on the list there have serious buyout money. Gus's could get up around $20-$22 and even McElwain's at CSU is $7.5 mil.

I can't see McElwain energizing the UF fan base because.....no...wait.  That's right. He's a Lord Saybinz disciple.  I can hear Vern and Gary now.

His buyout is $7.5 mil at Colorado State. (Those weed sales subsidies must be better than projected.) And, no, I doubt that will jazz the Gators.

Yeah, very premature conjecture. Gus is showing love and Johnson's buyout should make for a pause. Idiotic for him to have a big buyout in his contract, coming off a complete flop as a HC. But we have made a bunch of shittay contracts over the last few years.

What is EJ's buyout? I didn't know it was substantial.

i don't remember but I think we would have to pay him thru 2017. Prob not substantial to Jacobs but damn when you are paying about 5 or six coaches to not coach? I don't know how many it is but it's a pile. And it's ridiculous. It adds up.

Someone prob knows for sure and can correct this if wrong but I believe that Dye and Chiz are still on the payroll. I don't know who else.
