For the second time this season, an Auburn defender has earned an SEC Defensive Player of the Week award following a big win.
Kris Frost, the junior linebacker, was named the award's recipient after forcing the game-saving fumble against Ole Miss.
In the middle of a breakout run, Frost has a team-high 30 tackles in the past three games, and he's vaulted into third on the team with 46 tackles, and he's added a major big-play component with six tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, three fumbles forced and one recovery.
"All I've known is just in this past three games I think I've missed three tackles and that's really what it's all about: getting better each and every week," Frost said of his recent run on Sunday night. "That's the same mindset all our linebackers and all of the defense has."
Frost joins defensive back Joshua Holsey, who won the award following an 11-tackle performance against Kansas State.
With 1:30 left in the game, Rebels receiver Laquon Treadwell was headed for the end zone when Frost made one last-ditch attempt to keep him from crossing the goal line, and his tackle forced a fumble that fellow linebacker Cassanova McKinzy recovered.
Treadwell broke his leg and dislocated his ankle on the play, and his recovery will take four months.
"It's really unfortunate," Frost said. "I know we've all been praying for him and hoping he'll have a speedy recovery."
