Actually, that's Colt 45 in that cup but still, I get the gist of what you're saying.

This only bothers conservatives. Libs hate the military. So this is making them giggle.

We have a substantial portion of our population who are pathetic human beings. Yet they THINK they are moving toward enlightenment.

Most know I am no fan of Barry.

But with this one I was kinda "meh". Bigger and better things to critique over. I don't think it was malicious. Careless maybe but I don't think he was intentionally trying to give the finger to the military. I think he is simply guilty of being sloppy in his salute. Time to move on to more important things...like the economy crumbling and the world burning.

Agreed.

Also I cannot imagine how difficult it is to be the president considering how erratic his sleep schedule must be.  We've all had "Give me some goddamn coffee and leave me the fuck alone" mornings when going into work.

He looked like he was bumbling coming out the door and just didn't time it right with the coffee being in his hand. Like I said, careless maybe but sheesh not worth getting angry over.

Not angry. Just indicative of the lack of respect this man shows anyone in uniform.

For once on Obama, I don't agree with you. I don't think the two are related. I think the mis-salute was pure carelessness and being dumbfounded. Dude probably had 2-3 things on his mind and in his hands when he exited. Probably just wasn't thinking "I'll need my right hand to salute these guys when I get down the stairs."

Now, he may very well not respect someone in a uniform. Who knows. But I don't think this carelessness has anything to do with that. You can't criticize a liberal for thinking too emotional and not objectivtely, and then reason your position with the very same thing. I just think there are bigger fish to fry than the dummy holding the cup in the wrong hand and not thinking it through.

I don't see your point here!

That Bush has a lack of respect for the military.

Slack ass salute doesn't bother me, really.

What I find amusing is he's going to a Global Warming conference, and the cup he's drinking his coffee out of is Styrofoam.

Dog was scared. Cup? not so much.

Still a lack of respect.

Big difference between an animal in both arms and cup o tea in only one.

Still not a huge deal. Just another in a long line of disrespect for those BENEATH him.

As President, you know that there will be Marines waiting every time you step off an airplane or helicopter, and that they will be saluting.  Making a choice to hold a dog, scared or not, is no different than making a choice to hold a coffee.  Both will impede you from making a "proper" salute, and if failing to properly salute is a sign of disrespect, then both are guilty.

But if we want to talk about disrespect for the military, I'd say that it's disrespectful to offer a salute of any kind.  Afterall, it's a violation of military protocol for a non-military member to give a salute, and even if you've previously served, you are not to salute while in civilian clothing.
