Maybe just because it was a Thursday game, but I was never worried.  There was never a single moment where I felt we wouldn't win.  No concern.

This

Gus got dis without me evoking the extra mojo.

And that

Isn't it great when you have 350 yds of O, win the turnover margin by 2, beat the number 20 team in the country on the road,  holding them to their lowest points in 3 years and everyone bitches about having an off night?

And this, and uh...

Was in Tallahassee for that one.  The stadium at that time had wooden bleachers in both end zones, which is where they put the visiting fans.  They had a nice little system wherein the Indian on his horse would ride right in front of you across the end zone.  Naturally, all kinds of shoot would come flying out of the stands at him and as soon as it did, ushers poured out into to end zone pointing at the perpetrators (Including Snags) and security by the dozens came down the steps, toting said perpetrators (Including Snags) out.  Basically amounted to a stern lecture about throwing shoot at the Redskinned fella and asking if you would prefer a night in their jail as opposed to watching the rest of the game.  And although a night in jail with several hairy, brutish felons was pretty appealing at the time, I had family with me and they wouldn't have been able to get home.  So, I chose to watch a 42-41 AU victory.
Why do you always have to one up a fellow? My story about hearing Jim Fyffe call a legendary game was enough. All of this shit you wrote is probably just lies anyway, yet these gullible people believe all of this horseshit that you post.

And another thing, if Snyder is so fucking stupid as to let AARP publish his signals then they should be stolen.

As long as Gus an company didn't tap into their headsets or go all Watergate on them, too bad for the people dumb enough to not have their signals disguised better.

Seriously. How in the hell do you actually steal signals?

noun
1.
a gesture, action, or sound that is used to convey information or instructions, typically by prearrangement between the parties concerned.

So, if one is to convey info and someone else picks up on it, that is not stealing that is called not being a dumbass.

Hey, I gotza signal for them....

Why I'm worried:
Assuming Duke's dropped pass would have been a TD, but also removing KSU's equally or greater busted plays, you'd still have a 30-24 KSU victory last night. Take the 20-14 final score and give us 7 for that dropped pass. But then take away 3 for the gift we were given that got us on the board for the first time when KSU fumbled on like their 20. Then give KSU the 9 points in "how-the-hell-did-they-miss-those" chip-shot field goals. And then 7 more for the INT in the end zone.

Just saying, the ESPN narrative argument that KSU did a lot to giftwrap that game for us is a strong one, and it's hard for me to take much issue with.

For the first time under Gus, our offense was anemic and I had no confidence we wouldn't go 3 and out more often than not. As already mentioned it was primarily on the O-Line and WRs, who before last night I would have said are some of our biggest strong suits. Maybe Sammie & Duke aren't going to live up to the hype after all.

Why I'm not:
The zero fucking penalties was a huge shoveled pile of horse shit. As I mentioned in another thread, KSU came into the game with more average penalties per game, and yet we had about our average and they had ZERO. Despite the fact that anyone with eyes could clearly see holding & block in the back all goddamn night. BigXII crew should be ashamed, and I wish more than just Auburn fans would speak up about it. To still pull out a win despite that huge disadvantage is good to have in the coffer I guess.

I'm sure everyone saw that Geico trivia stat of the game EDIT: And have already discussed it in this thread in the time it took me to type this post that this was our first non-conference road win in 30 YEARS. I couldn't believe that shit. The last one was a 42-41 narrow win over FSU in 1984. I don't know how often we played ranked non-conference teams in that time, but I know we lost one that same year (#14 Miami to start the season). Just looked into it. We lost to #14 FSU again in '89 and to #20 USC in '02. Strangely, that's all we've played. But that said, as good as we were last year, our first road game was against a ranked team (LSU) and we lost. Coming out the other end of this with a W, in the end, is all that matters and an improvement even over last year.

Hopefully we learned from it and will improve. If they thought this environment was tough, Georgia & Bama ain't gonna be a cake walk.

Quote
If Auburn was stealing signs, nobody to blame but Kansas State

Posted by Kevin McGuire on September 19, 2014, 8:22 AM EDT

Auburn picked up a hard-fought victory on the road Thursday night at Kansas State, defeating the Big 12’s Wildcats by a final score of 20-14 in a game that almost seemed to go against the grain for the SEC’s Auburn Tigers. Auburn was forced to slow things down in order to protect a lead and there were times when Auburn’s running game seemed to be out-worked by a relentless and well-prepared Kansas State defense. Kansas State head coach Bill Snyder thinks Auburn had another advantage to rely on; stealing signs.

As the teams went to halftime Thursday night in Manhattan, Snyder told ESPN sideline reporter Sam Ponder he believed Auburn had picked up on some of Kansas State’s signals. The veteran coach suggested to Ponder his team needed to do a better job of disguising their calls in order to keep Auburn guessing. Following the game, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn disputed having any advantage of that kind, not that there should be any reason to feel bad about it if indeed Auburn did figure something out.

To be fair, Snyder was not accusing Malzahn and Auburn of doing anything wrong. He seemed to be just making an observation to Ponder, as it was reported during the telecast. Kansas State had plenty of opportunities to score the upset, and the possibility of having signals stolen by Auburn is far down on the list behind missed field goals, failed red zone opportunities and turnovers.

There should be a line drawn between the idea of stealing signals and picking up on signals. Stealing implies a team or person did something wrong, perhaps by sending someone undercover to scope out a team’s practice during the week or by getting a hold of an opponent’s playbook or game plan before the kickoff. Picking up on hand signals or vocal calls during the course of a game should be considered nothing more than awareness and showing an ability to adjust. There is nothing wrong with that just as there is nothing wrong with a quarterback calling an audible at the line of scrimmage because he does not like what he sees in the defensive formation.

The coach and team that learns to make adjustments the fastest will have a schematic advantage. Those who fail to make those adjustments are only holding themselves back.

Yes, mofo. And it was discussed in depth. This tells us two things. 1. Your posts are so long that I need a damn snack when I'm reading them. And b. you take stuff that I write and use it as if it's your own. You copy. Over and over.

One big critique I forgot to include:

What in the fucky fuck was Gus thinking late in the game when we're driving down the field to seal the victory?  Marshall and CAP are making play after play and then suddenly, Jeremy Johnson.......AT RECEIVER.  A couple of shitty wildcat plays later and we're kicking a field goal instead of getting the toilet paper ready.

Agree...I don't critique Gus much. But then was not the time to experiment with that crap. Scripted or not.
