"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Disagree here.  You obviously didn't watch UF vs UK game. UK is improved but Florida still looks like reheated baby puke, and their secondary was exposed.  FSU would stomp that ass at this point.
Oh, I know. Like I said, 10th or 11th best SEC team. Only ahead of Vandy (obviously) and maybe Kentucky (since they beat them) and Tennessee. Maybe one other East team or a Mississippi team that hasn't had a chance to shit the bed yet.

But that's how not-impressive FSU is. Have you watched them?

Once again, they've played two games. They needed a bad call touchdown-that-wasn't to squeak by unranked Oklahoma State. Yeah, OSU finally cracked the Top 25 this week, on the basis that A) There ain't a lot to choose from, and B) THEY ALMOST BEAT FSU! Relatively close games against Missouri State & the UTSA Roadrunners are the other games on OSU's schedule so far. The other FSU game was a 37-12 victory over Citadel. The team caused Auburn to get left out of the championship in 2004 just because even playing them at all was too big of a stain on our schedule. At least Florida decimated Eastern Michigan 65-0.

Right now Florida > FSU in a cripple fight, even though I didn't rank them that way based on last year's reputation alone, which is a dumb reason to hold them up as high as I did.

Also, I probably had East Carolina too low at #25. Really should be up in the Top 15 around SCe & Georgia's neighborhood.
I get that you are amazed at the teams I think can finish strong, some that benefit from an easy schedule. But if you look for blowouts and comparative scoring as your sole criteria for rankings then it's probably good that you not make many wagers unless you are hellbent on doing street shows in New Orleans after they take your keyboard.
The season rolls off like chapters and teams progress like AU 2010 lest we have short memories believing we steamrolled every team we played.

Except that we're in Week 3. And if that's all we have to go on, that's all we have to go on in a meritocracy, which is what I believe the polls should be.

If you want to rank your top five like this:
Alabama, Notre Dame, Penn State and Texas. These teams haven't hit their stride yet but this may very well be your final 4. You have to figure tradition into the equation.  It's what the country wants to see and the selection committee realizes this.
As Wiregrass was clearly joking about, go right ahead, but it isn't based on any actual merit earned on the field this season.

People shit on the comparative scoring methodology, but it is to me, the strongest indicator, in a sea of many other indicators, as to where a team ranks. It's called playing the games on the field. What we finally thankfully agreed to move to in the CFB Playoff.

This is likely what computer rating lovers want to see from week to week. It was part of the recently discarded formula and has been around for several decades. Strength of schedule is calculated into this formula.

Which is why I am conflicted on them and LSU this weekend. I think they are both sketchy. I guess at least LSU did beat Wisky. But they have been equally unimpressive otherwise.

LSU started with Wisky and they've played 2 cupcakes since in Samuel Adams State and the mighty Warsquawks of La. Monroe. However, the Badgers got a score in the 3rd quarter and LSU hasn't been scored on since.  Meaning again, LSU will have a ton of athletes on the field defensively and they'll continue to pound the ball between the tackles. Not a fan of LSU but I want them to whip that MSU ass to a soda water finish.

LSU might be our toughest game and we do need them to put a punishing loss on State.

I kind of take the mindset of LSU always being good.  10-3 last year and it was a "down" year.  Regardless, we're going to have to play our best to beat them.  It's the upstart MSU's and Ole Missies of the world that I need to receive a savage beatdown so the reality sets back in that they still are and will always be Mississippi teams.  A ton of hype that it's their year until an LSU or Bama or Auburn bitch slaps them and sends em' back to the corner.

This week instead of a new Top 25, I will rank my biggest problem with the AP's Top 25.

5. Ohio State #22

You won 34-17 against Navy and a pounding of Kent State. Congrats. BUT YOU STILL LOST TO VIRGINIA TECH.

How's VT doing? Their only other win so far is a 34-9 win over William & Mary. They lost to East Carolina and now Georgia Tech (who if you haven't been keeping up, are awful and barely beat Tulane & Georgia Southern) as well.

Until they beat a decent team, there are plenty more worthy candidates behind you or not ranked at all.

4. Stanford #16

You've beaten UC Davis and Army and failed to put up huge offensive scores on either. And you LOST to USC who clearly sucks as demonstrated by my next pick...

3.USC #18

You lost to Boston College. Buh bye. In case anyone thought they may "not be your grandfather's Boston College". They're 0-1 in the ACC by losing to Pitt, who lost to Iowa, so yeah, they are.

Just because you beat Stanford in a 13-10 cripple fight is not enough to warrant you a spot.

2. Arkansas still unranked.

The only unranked team in the SEC west is the one SEC team we already beat. I take this as a huge fuck you to Auburn. They have blown the doors off of everyone they've played but us. Liquidated Nicholls State 73-7. (I know, they are awful, but that's still an ass pounding). Then they were the underdog to Texas Tech and they whipped them into the ground 49-28. They played a previously unbeaten Northern Illinois this weekend (a team not as good as Tech, but considerably better than Nichols St.) and prolapsed their anus 52-14 as well. Their next two games are A&M and Alabama. They will, for good reason, be underdogs in those games. But laugh all you want, but I think they make more of a game out of both of those than anyone expects.

Regardless, for what they've done so far and only dropping one to last year's SEC Champion/National Title defender/Current unbeaten #5 team, they should be lightyears ahead Ohio State, Stanford, and USC and...*

1. Michigan Fucking State #9.

Why?? Why is ANY one loss team in the Top 10? And if they are, why is it a team that has only beaten Jacksonville State thirty something points and East Michigan by a little more than that? Why does losing 46-27 to a team that held on for dear life against unranked Washington State (with their own losses to Rutgers and Nevada already) award them that kind ranking? Arkansas is unranked and to me have a far better resume after four weeks of football, and yet they're unranked and Michigan State prances in at #9?!? WHY?!?

*In addition to these four teams, Arkansas should be ranked before Georgia, South Carolina (they at least lost to a team ranked almost as high as Auburn), Wisconsin, LSU, and Oklahoma State.

Coach Bielema sends his love.

We can't know what happens to a team the week following a loss or how good or bad the team that beat them will play against a perceived weaker opponent. re: Michigan State and Oregon

But I agree that the ranking in the polls is skewed by the opinion that these teams will eventually be there in the end so why drop them accordingly as they would those of lesser renown.

The words fair and deserving are the stuff of fairy tales.

I think the pollsters are waiting to see what Arky does this weekend. They played us tough for a half and have ran through everyone else (which they should have since they are a better team than those they beat). I think the public wants to see them get a signature win. They started off with a winning record last year as well against inferior competition (from the eyes of the pollsters). But I personally think they should be ranked. They are tough and physical and have a great stable of RB's. Sick of hearing about UGA's and Bammer's RBs. Arky's are as good as anyone's to me.
