If you haven't seen the Spurrier doc on ESPNu, I recommend it.

I hated him when he was running the score up after first getting things rolling at UF. Looking back, I think that he had to. I am not certain but I think that they had only 1 (or maybe 0) SEC championships before he came as head coach. They obviously had some really good teams through the years but he had to attract the skill players. Putting up the big numbers was part of his plan, I believe.

They begin with his childhood days in Johnson City.

When asked about his biggest win as a player, it was a high school baseball game.

I had not really thought about it until seeing this but he did have a meteoric rise in coaching. Offensive coordinator for two years before being a head coach at Duke. You don't see that often, if ever.

He's done it different.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

What put him in the stratosphere was winning at Duke.  If you can win there you can win anywhere!

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

And he has. Anywhere there wasn't an asshole owner behind him and arrogant ass millionaire players to deal with.

The thing he said about the Duke job was he was originally hired as OC.  The coach there gave him total control of the offense.  He just said do whatever you want.  Scary to give Spurrier that kind of power.

Its like giving a lawyer that cares testicles to do whatever he wants to with.

Scary and unprecedented.

Unpredictable results.

Know what I mean big guy?

Other than clinging to the plantation symbols, the biggest mistake in Reb history was firing Cut.

On the off-chance that the fairy tales ain't bunk
And Imma keep a bottle of that funk
To get motel parking lot, balcony crunk.
