My biggest issue is the very one Mike Rowe raised: 6000 people a year are diagnosed with ALS. How many more get cancer? Parkinson's? Alzheimer's? All this funding for a horrible disease that affects, in the grand scheme of things, so few people, will definitely take funds away from research on diseases that affect millions of people. I know, I might feel differently if a family member had ALS, but when one looks objectively at the situation, you have to come out on the side of the greater good.
Charitable giving should be a personal choice, left to the individual, and not something you are bullied into doing by some B-list celebrity dying to attention whore themselves in the name of charity.
