I think pointing out that even an evil f*ck like Hitler was aware of the importance of, and knew how to gain the attention of young people is probably a pretty poignant thing to keep in mind.
Unless you're a reactionary just looking for something to be offended about, then forget the message and just run with how hurt you are.

The church didn't quote Hitler in "a positive way" dude. The church is pointing out that someone is influencing kids and shaping their futures. Whether or not you (or anyone good, honorable and decent) does anything at all to ensure children are being taught good, honorable and decent things SOMEONE (and they're pointing out that in that case it was Hitler doing the shaping) will teach them. And if you allow someone else to do the entirety of the teaching they might teach things that are brutal and repugnant.  Children are learning whether or not you bother to teach them.

If that particular church (I don't know anything about them) is actually advocating "Hitler had some good ideas" like you're suggesting I will happily join the pitchfork and torch mob of villagers and go deal with it. That said, that is obviously not the point of this particular advertisement.

I think your interpretation is not "thinking it all the way through", but over thinking it and stretching to make quoting Hitler to promote a church ok.

To me, intentional or not, when you have a billboard that says:

"He alone who owns the youth gains the future" - Adolf Hitler
"Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6"

It is implying that both quotes are wise words that demonstrate the importance of influencing children at an impressionable age.
