The Alabama Crimson Tide was on a recruiting roll in southwest Alabama until three players out of Mobile signed with the Auburn Tigers in 2014.
A comment by one of those players headed to Auburn gets the discussion going in our new "SECond Look" video report from AL.com's Mark Heim (standing in for Randy Kennedy) and Mike Herndon.
"Auburn owns Mobile," said Tre Williams, the five-star linebacker from St. Paul's Episcopal. "They will own Mobile until we leave."
Herndon says in our video, "I would imagine that caught the attention of a lot of Alabama fans who are accustomed to pulling pretty much whoever they want out of here. I think he may have overstated it a little bit, but the point is well taken. Auburn has certainly got a presence here now."
Heim and Herndon go on to talk about past and future recruiting in the area.
"It's going to be a big battleground for those schools from here on out," Herndon says.
