by Mark HelmThe NCAA has notified Mississippi State that it is no longer investigating the school's role in an alleged illicit benefits case, a source told CBSSports.com.The source said the NCAA stated it considers the matter closed as it pertains to the Bulldogs.Mississippi State, Alabama and Tennessee were included in a September report linking former Alabama player Luther Davis as a middle man for agents and prospective NFL draft picks. In September, five SEC players - including former Crimson Tide star lineman D.J. Fluker - received extra benefits as college football players, Yahoo! Sports reported. The report was based on financial and text messages belonging to former Crimson Tide defensive lineman Luther Davis who allegedly worked as a runner for the agents.Yahoo! reported that Davis purchased airfare for former State players Fletcher Cox and Chad Bumphis while they were still in school. A source told CBSSports.com in January that the NCAA can't find Luther Davis, which has stalled the case.
So what I read there is "we will not prosecute anyone as long as it also shows dirt on Alabama".Got it.
My question is where in the world has Luther Davis disappeared to? Did he fall up some stairs?
Davis has joined the ranks of Jody Wright and Waldo.
