There's no way I made two separate payments.  I have a "pay the bills" day because when I first got out of college, I was having a hard time remember to pay every bill. 

It's also a three page process to pay the mortgage bill.

I would have had to gone through the process twice in a five minute sitting and not realized what I was doing. 

It's not that being drafted twice is a big deal.  Wells Fargo won't penalize me for overdrafting once Chase refund the payment. 

It's that when I called Chase to discuss it with them, they absolutely would not admit nor even consider admitting fault and made an effort to tell me repeatedly that it was my fault.  Not a glitch in their system.  Not maybe a processing error.  Nothing. 

All three people I spoke to said at least once - "Because this is a customer error...."

Why didn't you just have them apply the 2nd payment to next month?

I am guessing here but:

If they applied the payment now to next month they would owe him a credit as the interest would be different.

Or

they would have to work to hold the payment for a whole month and we know that isn't happening.

Why didn't you just have them apply the 2nd payment to next month?
That'd severely cut into the month's champagne and caviar funds.
