And if you got a scholly to MMI, you did not get a whoel lot. That place is expensive as hell and they only give half schollys. Back in my day, you could pay your own way to AU with the same amount you had to pay at MMI, WITH a scholly.

Been a day or two and a few beers since this happened. Most likely I am getting the name wrong of the  school. It was a JR college I thought around Montgomery or surrounding area. And the golf team must have really sucked for them to be offering me as I was decent but not scholly worthy.
