AUBURN, Alabama -- Auburn signee Kalvaraz Bessent was arrested on marijuana-related charges early Saturday, according to the Nassau County Sherriff's Office in Florida.

The cornerback out of St. Mary's, Ga., was arrested on two felony charges stemming from possession of marijuana over 20 grams and possession with intent, according to the county jail. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Bessent was released Saturday on $5,506 bond.

Then leave him in the doghouse for a year or go ahead and tell him his LOI is nullified.

If I'm going to take the stance that Alabama is corrupt, dishonest, and criminal for defending an idiot like Tony Brown, then I'm going to be harsh on our own guys.

Having that much marijuana when you KNOW it's a felony charge is fucking stupid.  The kid had a free ride to Auburn with a good chance of playing early and possibly going to the NFL.  Too god damn stupid to take advantage of that?  Go somewhere else.

If true then whatever.  Deal with the consequences (which don't exist in Colorado).

I will say, however, that I watched as a crooked cop did his best to ruin a kid. Planted cocaine in the kids headrest. Guy was a junior in high school getting a ton of attention. Charged as an adult.  Charges eventually dropped but not before he missed two seasons and whatever chance he had to be recruited. I know the cop did it and I know why. But who is gonna be believed? Cop or kid?

I'll just take the al.com view that the police in _________________ are corrupt.

But you won't see that.

You'll get a big headline about Alabama's graduation rates and Saban's success with 5 stars getting drafted.

Then in a smaller headline, you'll get a story detailing Auburn's history of marijuana, spice, and crime.

People over exaggerate. Its not like guy was cruising GTA V style. A half pound doesn't equal Tony Montana. Besides every smart person knows you get better deal if you buy in bulk. The small hand gun is just him exercising his constitutional right to protect his property.

Seriously tho, hate it for the kid. Who knows maybe he was just cruisin with the wrong people and when they got pulled over everyone was arrested.  Maybe he knew it was there maybe he didn't. Don't mean it was his. Of course it sure as hell don't look good. Hope it works out for him.

He is a minor, will likely sit out a year of football but enrolled in a college. Could eventually make it back somewhere depending on his resolve and family situation.

That's right! You can get youthful offender up to 21 in some cases in some areas. The kid isn't ruined, just has a loooooooong uphill climb and everything about his family and past play a part in how this goes down. The court is going to look at his situation and bleed the family if it sees there is something there. He'll have an extended probation on top of the classes and "normal fines." Hopefully he makes it through this and plays the game he loves for another school, probably through the JC route.

Unfortunately, a lot of people can't see this.  People forget that these are kids, they will do dumb shit, and it sometimes just boils down to who they are hanging out with.

Exactly. But it can be a huge hurdle. In some municipalities and counties in Alabama they can keep the parents hung up for very minor offenses by the child whereas an older kid in another county can do far worse and skate with a fine and little more.

We might soon find out what happens with Mr. Bessent...

2014 #3 JUCO CB Joseph Turner 6'2" 190lbs. 4.4 40

He was committed to Washington State since July of last year, but was unable to qualify for early enrollment in December. WSU decided to move on, but Turner apparently didn't get that message and was set to sign with them last week. The problem was he never received the signing papers from WSU.

Auburn is his first official visit outside of the October visit to Washington State. Also, not many programs realized that he didn't sign with anyone last week. Auburn could be getting a huge bump in the CB department. 6'2" 190lb. w/ 4.4 40? That's the perfect size and speed for a CB, especially going up against the Mizzouri Skyscrapers.
