Didn't realize that Tracy Rocker joined Pruitt at UGA as DL coach this weekend until a few minutes ago.  Not a good thing.  If Pruitt is worth a damn at all their D will be legit.  Also Rocker was a pretty good recruiter as well was he not?  How did he not land another NFL gig?  Damn, I do not like this.

Haven't heard that part. I'm not sure if the NFL is where he wants to be or not but I seriously doubt he would've signed up with the leghumpers if the Titans staff hadn't been let go. Same with Auburn.

Well since we are talking about Rocker at UGA, the head guy in this case would be Marky Mark. He's still in charge of the whole thing and that's all I need to know. Pruitt and Rocker can only do so much. Just like Gus and Rocker did with Gene. In the end, it will come unraveled because the main guy in charge is incompetent.

I say this in response to many of our fans worrying that UGA may become good suddenly because of these two decent hires. I just disagree with that assumption.

Believe me, I want him to stay there. But with the talent and resources he's had, UGA should have a natty or two by now. Underachiever.  The assts in the past weren't the issue for UGA. You know as well as I do that team talent (AU 2004) and coaching (AU 2010) are not only what it takes to get to the MNC so to say he should have 2 is stretching it.  Should he have 1 yes, I think so.  Would I want him as our head coach...depends on when you asked.  Right now...no.   Tuberville was a great coach and he also didn't have any MNC's.

To use him as your example in this case is stupid, IMO. I don't think his assistants cover up deficiencies, assistants are crucial to any team.  Making the right hires that fit your team mold are just as important.  Even though I don't care for him I personally think Richt is a great coach.  He constantly has his team in the hunt, and what more could you want as a fan?

BTW Richt is 8-5 against us.

The other point you made which I have heard media members make is also immaterial.  That you should be able to hire anyone when talking about a certain team or geography.  When has that ever held true?  Name me one example of that happening.  USC was good back in the day and had fallen off the map until Pete Carrol got there.  Texas hadn't done shit after Darrell Royal until Mack Brown.  Ask bama how life had been after Bahr until thy Führer got there.  You need a good coach to coach a good team, it's how it works.
