Insults and cans flew in 7 Eleven fracas, police say

SPRING HILL — Words were exchanged, a pocketbook was thrown at a pickup, and a man and several women went at each other outside a 7-Eleven store with Mace and a can of boiled peanuts, deputies say.

When it was all settled, the Tuesday morning brawl left several people with minor injuries and criminal citations, and nearly 25 braided hair extensions strewn across the parking lot.

A Sheriff's Office report gives this account:

The trouble started about 1 a.m. outside the convenience store at 6016 Spring Hill Drive as Marshall and Gloria Corulla walked out with milk and eggs.

The Corullas said two women in a Ford Explorer, later identified as Phyllis Hoskin and Kathleen Infante, said "something slick" to their 38-year-old daughter, Dawn Deleon.

Infante, in turn, accused Deleon of calling them "skanks" and asking them, "What are you monkeys looking at?" the report says.

Moments later, as the Corullas drove off, one of the women allegedly threw a silver pocketbook that struck the family's pickup.

Corulla turned his pickup around, pulled behind the Explorer and got out. As he approached the SUV, Hoskin sprayed him with Mace, the report says.

Gloria Corulla and Deleon rushed in, and Mrs. Corulla also got a face of Mace. Infante's mother, Patricia Infante-Penney, ran from inside the store to join the fracas, police say.

During the altercation, Infante allegedly struck more than one person with a can of boiled peanuts, but she wasn't exactly sure whom she hit. Hoskin had about 25 braided hair extensions ripped from her head during the scuffle.

A witness gave a version of events that backed Marshall Corulla and provided a sworn written statement. The Corullas, Deleon, Hoskin, Infante and Infante-Penney were each issued misdemeanor citations for rioting and criminal mischief.

Deputies noted that Infante-Penney gave them a false last name and signed her misdemeanor citation with a signature of "(expletive) you."
