Didn't our new defensive coordinator make similar comments about the spread offense?

Sans the 2010 Iron Bowl, Saban hasn't seem to have had any problems figuring out Malzahn's offense.  Even in that game Alabama had blanked it at the half.

A talent gap and player development gap had more to do with that than anything. When Gus has the players and moreso a qb worth 2 shits, it's worked. Even Todd faired ok in 2009 against Bama. They ran out of gas against the eventual national champion. Sue him.

Yep.

14-0 happened really quick.  And if my memory serves me right, Auburn had quite a few chances to put the game away but had key drops and I think a crucial interception late in the game.

In 2010, Saban didn't necessarily figure out Auburn's offense.  He and McElwain sure as hell had figured out the Auburn defense.  Malzahn had no hope in the 1st quarter and a half against Alabama because Alabama was using 2-3 plays to score touchdowns.  But once the defense stepped up, Auburn's offense had plenty of firepower and ingenuity to score 28 points.

2010 first half had more to do with auburn having their heads up their asses than anything. You could watch and tell they were not executing. They were sloppy. Unforced errors, nothing Bama was doing special. If that had been the case, the 2nd half wouldn't have happened. Auburn woke up. And of course Roof adjusted at the half on D which was his MO.

I said the exact same thing about this last weekends UAT/UGA game. That game was only close because Bama slept walk for a half. Hard to admit but true. Once they got into their groove it wasn't even close as to who was a better team.  I find them real similar.

So are we no longer speculating that Bama was stealing offensive signals in the first half?  I need to get my talking points straight.

That, combined with sloppy first half play made it closer than it should have been.

I'm thinking Saban may be finished.  I think he has a three loss season next year and then retires.

Someone mentioned last night - may have been Todd's Taste of the Whateverhislastnameis - that Oklahoma was running a lot of plays they hadn't run all year.  Some of them looked eerily Gus-like.

Hit the perimeter and go no huddle with quick tempo, and you can score points on Alabama.  Nick Saban had every weapon he needed this year on offense, but next year takes a hit.  Takes a big hit, and that doesn't bode well for his style of winning.
