In a more stunning turn of events Mack Brown seems to be staying at Texas. Can't believe Texas would pass on the updyke king just to keep Mack Brown one more year.

Saban is an ego maniac.  He could never live with himself knowing that people would suggest that Malzhan ran him out of Alabama.  And I personally believe he never intended to sign with Texas, and only allowed it to go this long to keep his name and his University in the headlines after a crushing defeat by it's rival.

Auburn and Florida State are playing in the national championship in a month, but in the last week before the dead period in recruiting, what was on ESPN all day, every day?  A bunch of people arguing about how great of a coach he is and how much money Texas was willing to spend for his greatness.  And for a solid hour on ESPN, there is a breaking news banner running once every minute about Nick Saban.

I get the theory that generally any pub is good pub, but this had to affect recruiting and his relationship with the power base.

Is this anything like in 2007 when you said that Saban had blown his wad, and that season was as good as it was going to get?  That he wasn't going to be able to fix Alabama?  You may not remember that from the old board, but I do.

Alabama used the media to troll/undermine other teams to keep the focus on them? Ya don't say.

Been saying it for years and will again that Alabama and those in bed with them will simply INSIST the college football storyline to revolve around them. If Auburn wins a close one over FSU, I fully expect a strong push on the AP to spilt the championship (assuming Alabama bothers to care about the Splenda Bowl).

Well, the Texas media certainly didn't help.  Saban has been saying since September that he is happy where he is, and didn't plan on going anywhere.  For the past week or so, a lot of the Texas media has been saying Saban to Texas was a done deal.  Some, to the extent that he was already putting out feelers for new staff.

Texas will likely deal with Sexton again very soon.

No. It's nothing like that -- which you're misquoting.

Look historically. Dynasties when broken crack and crumble.  It's broken. Cracks to commence.

Life without AJ McTattoo will be a interesting one. First loss next year, I bet $1 that sabbin throws his players under the bus again, degrades the media, then says something negative about the fanbase.

Ole Miss has no QB or run game so Saban can all but cruise going into November 9th at Baton Rouge.

Life without AJ included a 12 win season with John Parker Wilson and an SEC/BCS championship with Greg McElroy. Maybe Alabama won't win another 3 championships in the next 4 years, but they won't be in Shreveport either.

Alabama should be the west favorite even with a new QB going into next season by schedule alone. Auburn has a much more challenging road.
