Most of the pundits are saying Stanford should be ahead of Baylor now in the rankings. Pfffffttttt.
Utah: 27.
Stanford: 21.
All I need to know to tell me they should be behind Auburn. Yes, so far, the Oregon win is technically better than any Auburn win, although I would debate A&M being > Oregon at this point. But LSU is not Utah. A national title contender does not drop games to Utah.
Here is how the Chizad Institute's BCS Computer Poll Rankings would look today. Of course, I'm doing this in the middle of the week before many of these teams play, but after four of them already have, so obviously, that's not how polls work.
1. FSU
2. Bama
3. Baylor
4. Ohio State
5. Clemson (Begrudgingly)
6. Missouri
7. Auburn
8. Stanford
9. Oregon
10. Flip a coin between Miami, South Carolina, LSU, and A&M.
FSU is above Bama
right now because to this point, their schedule and results have been more impressive. Who does Bama have to hang their hat on so far besides A&M? We've beaten them too. I'm not saying this to say that we're on equal footing with Bama, but to say that FSU has played a more impressive schedule to date and has been just as dominant. Should Bama beat LSU this weekend? They'd have a chance to possibly jump FSU. Should they, God forbid, win the Iron Bowl, they would solidify the top spot. Not until then, or at least this weekend.
Ohio State hasn't played a damn soul. But they haven't lost in two years, and that's got to count for something from a BCS school in this flawed system.
The three tigers are essentiall in a three-way tie, but I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to Clemson for starting higher (which only makes sense in a tie-breaking scenario), then Missouri for destroying Georgia and having their only loss be in OT to a pretty good South Carolina. And also to not be too much of a homer.
