Saban pities Auburn, he's just a softie

As Henry sprinted down the sidelines for the longest run of his Alabama career, ESPN's cameras caught a look of Saban as he stood and watched from the sidelines. When it becomes clear Henry won't be tackled, Saban throws his arms up a bit and lets them fall to his side.
This was exactly what Saban has been wanting to see from his talented freshman running back, but timing is everything. In Saban's mind, this wasn't the time or place to add another touchdown.

Though he didn't address it during his post-game press conference, Saban laid out his philosophy clearly on his Thursday radio show.

"I never run up the score," Saban said as he went on a tangent following a question about the criteria college football's playoff committee should use starting in 2014. "If we'd have just made a first down rather than scoring last week (at Kentucky), I'd have kneeled on the ball and all the fans probably would have booed us, like we kneeled on the ball last year when we were ahead of Auburn. I just think you have to have compassion for other people. They have moms and dads, they work hard. You don't need to embarrass anybody.

"If that's what you have to do to get ranked higher, I think it's ridiculous. I don't."

Henry's touchdown likely had little effect on the voters who have an impact on Alabama's No. 1 status. And you can't put any of the blame on Henry, who has been itching for an opportunity like that to show off the speed he has to go along with his 240-pound frame.

Though it's had plenty of opportunities to throw up some crooked numbers, Alabama's won by 50 or more points just three times under Saban. Two have come against Arkansas.

Says the clown who had McElroy throwing for 40-yard touchdowns with less than two minutes left in the Tuberville exit game.

An outside perspective would note that all others not named Bamer would have to bring up nine to stop Auburn, (aTm) daring them to pass. Conversely Auburn would have to blitz SPUAT to pressure as others have tried and eventually failed as the game wore on. Neither are so different in what they want to do whether it's from the read option or play action.
