An Improved Defense

An Improved Defense
« on: September 10, 2013, 12:04:39 PM »
We're definitely more aggressive.

Quote
StatTiger ?@StatTiger 5m Auburn defense had 13 TFL against ASU. The last time AU had this many TFL in one game was against UK in 2004.

Also, we've hit double digits in tackles for loss 4 times in the previous 6 seasons, and 3 of those came in 2010.

Further, we haven't allowed a touchdown in 6 quarters.  Even with the patsy cupcakes on our schedule in our past, our longest streak in 2010 was 5 quarters, 6 quarters twice in 2008, and 8 quarters in 2007.

Stop the thread now THS!

We've established for a fact that Arkensaw state sucks and would have made even Jake look good last year. That's what matters.

Without our helmets being lined up straight those figures mean nothing.

Made him look good this year.  After a no tackle, no assist effort against WSU.

Just saying.

I fully credit Jake on this one. For having sense enough to cut 3 inches of Tarzan hair which enabled him to see slightly better. Although those unis asu had on were a bit unsightly.

The most surprising thing to me so far this season is how hard our defense is playing. Sure, lesser competition than typical SEC teams but still a 180 from last year.

Excluding LB play--the defense looks vastly improved. Looking forward to seeing these freshmen develop.

Need to add one out of jock fake when the QB was beyond the line of scrimmage faked a throw that he went for and the QB ran for about 30 yards.

Yeah. that one was ugly. I'm sure the coach looked around and was about to yell FROST. But then realized he was suspended. I'm sure the word SHIT was uttered!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Wonder if we could get away with putting number 5 on frost and 17 on Jake. (For the first half anyway)

What patsy cupcakes are you talking about?

Well, only looking at 2009-2013:

LA Tech
Ball State
Furman
Ark State
LA Monroe
UT Chattanooga
Utah State
Florida Atlantic
Samford
LA Monroe
New Mexico State
Alabama A&M
Washington State (in some people's opinions)
Ark State

Even with those types of teams that Auburn should roll over just because we're Auburn, we've only managed to hit a streak of 6 quarters without an opponent scoring a touchdown three times.  In our BCSCG year, our longest streak was 5 quarters.

Just showing that this year's team is much improved and despite the schedule debate has shown already that it is catching up and/or passing the defenses we've had in the past.

**I should add that you have to go back to the Tuberville era to find Auburn defenses that can hit 6 quarters or more without giving up a touchdown.
