You also have to know what to do with javascript and some other things to protect yourself.  Also don't go fucking around with anything involving your own personal information. 

The Deep Web is retarded, and the reputation that it has developed is even more retarded.  If you go snooping around it, you're likely to stumble upon CP or other illegal activity.  Everything else is boring. 

Though when I used it I never saw the CP.  I did peruse the Silk Road for a while though.
