Question for your shotgun folks
« on: August 14, 2013, 02:52:09 PM »
Came into possession of a Mossberg 185D. Shoots great and such.

Two issues:
1. There's a crack running four inches down the side of the stock where the screw sits. How can I repair that?

2. Also, have had a mutha of a time finding a magazine to fit the thing. Bought one that was close but didn't feed. Any suggestion so where to go for that would be useful.

Do you have a rifle and a four-wheel drive?

If you are just looking to repair it then you can take the stock off, and use wood glue and clamps.  The bond between wood and glue will have more strength than the wood itself had.  I have actually done this to a couple of different weapons through the years with pretty good results.  Now I also ended up sanding the stocks down and refinishing them so the new joint wasn't nearly as noticeable.  Otherwise you will need to take it to a professional gunsmith.
There is one other option if you just want to get a new one http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/

As far as the clips go I would imagine that you can just search it on teh ebays and come up with one.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

Wow, that's an unusual gun.  Your best bet might be repairing it as it is not a gun with collector value.  I don't know if anyone makes composite stocks for it but that would be my first choice for replacement, otherwise a wood stock will probably run you around $70-$90.  For the mags, you best bet is just start hitting the interwebs or calling local gunsmiths or shops.

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.
