Things don't happen overnight. In 1981 the Alabama cabal didn't think there was any way little second-rate Aubren was gonna get uppity. They'd hire a sire of Bear and things would go on just like they always did. Oh, them Aubrens might win a game or two heah or theah, but this was a Bammer state and don't ya fergit it.
Funny thing happened, though. Cosmic convergence of a dead bear and an ascendant dye leveled the playing field. Them uppity Aubrens moved the dayum game down to they heathern pasture. And them dirty Aubs was a busted play and a miracle field goal from winning eight straight!!
Well, we'll show them. We'll go back to the tried and true method that always worked for da Bahr. We'll bust they little butts with the NC-duba-A. And they did. And they ruined Dye (or tried to).
Another funny thing. With Gentleman Shug around them Aubs had always sorta took it with a grin. But maybe it was the dangdong winning they's doing, or maybe it was that dipdang Dye's fire and love but them uppity Aubs turned it right back around. Did the same thing back with Jelks and sent the NCAA hounds back to Tuscaloosa.
And the great whale was wounded. All the people who'd wanted to get at Bama saw the blood in the water and it was on like donkey kong. Bama kept on doing what it had been doing all along -- cheating. Except now, they weren't a sacred cow and people weren't afraid to call them on it.
It all started right then, people. The plan you're seeing come to fruition today was born in the dust and dirt of the butt kickings Dye administered and the realization that they couldn't just do whatever they wanted and get away with it.
Things had to change.
Oh, they spent a lot of time trying to get out of their own way. Mal Moore was the dumbest human being on the planet -- until his choice was scuttled by Finebaum at the urging of the bama money brokers and he flopped over and found Saban.
What you're seeing today is the culmination of two decades or more of steady work. Because what "they" want isn't a level playing field or honest competition. "They" want to destroy Auburn. Always have, always will.
This isn't something that was devised last night or two years ago.
The seed was planted in the early 80s and fertilized in the 90s. And now it's full grown. They're almost back to where they can do whatever they want -- cheat, lie, steal -- with no fear whatsoever of retribution.
