he University of South Carolina's athletics department is looking into reports that star defensive end Jadeveon Clowney may have had contact with rap mogul Jay-Z.

Jay-Z, who's real name is Shawn Carter, has recently started a talent represenative agency for athletes called Roc Nation Sports.

"All of our conversations [with Clowney] are wait until you have played your last game at South Carolina," Steve Spurrier said. "When the bowl game is over this coming season he's free to accept any amount of money anybody wants to give him. But until then he has to be a student-athlete like all the other guys or he's not going to be eligble. He's done a good job of knowing that."

NCAA bylaws prevent players from agreeing in writing or verbally to be represented by an agent. Any athlete who does is ruled ineligible.

Technically, he can talk to whoever he wants as long as he or any member of his family doesn't sign until after the season or he or any of them gets any improper benefits.

Is it me or does there seem to be a targeted campaign against any of the SEC's stars not playing for Alabama? Manziel, Clowney, hell they'd write about Aaron Murray if there was anything to know. Maybe it's just my tinfoil hat but seems fishy to me.

I don't blame him.  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he did this on purpose so he doesn't have to play this season.

It was evident his freshman year - hell, the first half of his freshman year - that he was a physical freak with the body and ability to handle the NFL.

Instead, he's wearing treads playing for a team that never really has a shot at a championship and lord knows whatever minimal classroom requirements they've bestowed onto him is definitely a waste of his time.

Clowney could sit this season and still be drafted in the 1st round.  With the new pay scale for rookies, it's not like he's going ot miss out on some gargantuan paycheck if he's not drafted #1 overall, which is still a possibility with someone like him.

If he sits on his own accord, that questions his character and work ethic.  If he sits because he received a free CD from Jay-Z the NFL agent, then it makes the NCAA look ridiculous while he gets to do a year long combine workout to make the scouts ooo and aah.

No I agree after last weeks media days. The hack job they did on Manziel while making McBangsWebb look like a saint for trying to "wake him up" at the manning passing camp. ESPN was honking their knobs so hard while at the same time downplaying anyone else. Clowney getting less votes than CJ Mosely for all sec is still chuckle worthy and proves my point.

Agreed.  Lemonier took last season off.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

All the funding is going toward human school buses.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."
