AUBURN, Ala. - Sophomore guard Shaq Johnson has been dismissed from the Auburn men's basketball team for a violation of team rules, head coach Tony Barbee announced Thursday.

"We hold our student-athletes to a high standard at Auburn University in the way that they conduct themselves off the court," head coach Tony Barbee said. "I am very disappointed in Shaq's choices and actions, and they won't be tolerated. This decision is not one that I take lightly, but it is in the best interest of both the program and the student-athlete."

Johnson played in all 32 games in 2012-13, starting 21. He averaged 18.1 minutes per contest and scored 6.2 points per game in SEC play.

I know there will be some/many who disagree with my take and be happy with this no-nonsense...Auburn people shouldn't tolerate this type of behavior....good riddance approach. But IF...IF...this is the first problem Barbee has had with Shaq..and the possession just means he was caught with a satchel or a few joints, whatever (And not 5 pounds) then fuck kicking him off.

Again, assuming it is just a basic possession charge and there's no other circumstances making it much worse, then discipline the hell out of him, suspend him X amount of games, make him see the error of his ways (Not calling Snags to share) and get him back on track.

How many chances did Honey Badger get? Jessica Parker Wilson gets a first half game suspension for a DUI. Barbee, who has taken this program from bad to one that couldn't compete in the Sun Belt, immediately dismisses a starter for blazing up one time. No second chance. No punishment or suspension for several games. Nothing but hit the road, bitch.

Get ready for another 3-39 conference run again.

While I get what your saying and I agree, after the whole spice incident (forget we did nothing wrong for a second), we have to make it appear we have a zero drug policy. You can hide failed drug tests but not an arrest. If he wasn't kicked off the team then the media would have a field day with it.

Here is the part that bothers me. Unless he was on his way home from buying some, then keep that shit stashed at your house and don't have it on your person, especially if you are a student athlete.

If memory serves from the article I read, he was pulled over a little before midnight and booked in around 1:00 a.m. Werd, take it to the house to blaze up. Sit in the parking lot. Don't be riding downtown at midnight.
