After seeing what was posted early in this thread, I saw that the Debbie Downers certainly weren't alone.

Twitter was bitching up a storm about him not fitting Gus's offense.

I echo JR that it can't get much worse and any QB whose name I recognize from being better than average with game experience, is welcome IMO.

If memory serves, Trickett's first real action came in 2011 against Oklahomo when Manuel went down. He played a good bit that season while Manuel was recovering. Played sparingly last year, throwing only 34 passes on the season. I have no idea why he left but assume it had as much to do with Jameis Winston being ready to start his career under center.

6'3" 180

Career Stats: 66/106 62% 947 yards 7 TD's 4 Int.

No rushing yards to speak of.

My biggest thing with the possibility of him signing is that it gives us another option (Who knows, he may be the best option) at QB. Someone who's got real game experience under his belt and apparently didn't suck. He wouldn't come in shell-shocked and could run the offense. He's no long term solution by any means but rather a viable option for the immediate future.....if needed.

If Trickett can match Chris Todd's production, then we'll be fine. Because if Malzahn comes in and wins 8-9 games with another Chris Todd, then following mathmatical properties, we should see another Cam Newton emerge as the starter in 2014.

Well. To be fair, we had all seen enough out of Trotter to think he would be at least as good as Todd. And we were all OK with that. Then Totter went and losted his mind. Did NOT see that coming!

Like I said, I had no problem if a guy with real game experience who apparently at least didn't suck, wanted to come in and compete for the job. I talked to 2 FSU fans last week about him and they both said, "Okay QB. Skinny as a rail but a real good arm. Just wasn't going to get any playing time now that Winston is ready."

Well for me, this just further solidifies my opinion that Nick Marshall will be the starting QB for '13.
