Just another meaningless aside...hijack....whatev..
I was looking for some stuff on Folston and pulled up the original link on the thread to Scout. Clicked on team rankings and AU is currently 23rd, according to Scout. Spare me the "rankings don't matter" speech. I tend to think they do in a couple of ways. First, if you're consistently in the top of Rivals/Scout/247...whoever..it means you're getting a shit load of good players. No they don't all pan out but being consistently up there means you're getting your fair share of top talent. Then, it's up to coaching, as became so painfully obvious the past two seasons.
Second, these kids pay attention to this stuff. They know where the teams they're considering are. A lot of kids are looking for immediate playing time. I believe most of the big timers are looking for that but at a program that's heading upward.
So, how does Scout look at our commits and determine we're currently 23rd? By being the only service to rate Lawson a 4 star. By rating the #1 JUCO RB in the nation, who rushed for 3,000 yards...a 2 star. By rating the #1 JUCO guard in the nation....a 2 star. You say they sometimes don't rate JUCO guys? They do have Ben Bradley a 4 star along with Nick Marshall. The #1 JUCO running back in the nation is a 2 star? Have you loss yo damn mine?
Yeah, I know it probably doesn't mean a damn thing....but really? A 2 star?
