According to Germany's Der Spiegel, German police shot only 85 bullets in all of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., where the population is little less than four times the size of Germany's, well, we can get to 85 in just one sitting, thank you very much. 84 shots fired at one murder suspect in Harlem, another 90 shot at one fleeing unarmed man in Los Angeles.

Again - hoping that their training involved live fire exercises.  Read something not long ago about how the police in India were helpless against that recent mass shooter that killed quite a few people.  They had no training in what to do, and none of them had ever even fired a live round because India is a vehemently anti-gun nation.

I'm glad I don't totally depend on government for anything. If I did I would be screwed as would anyone else who is totally dependent. It's amazing what we pay in taxes and what we don't get in return.

We had saying:  More sweat in training less blood in combat. So yes they have many live fire and simulated situations.

There effectiveness is in that they fired so few rounds.

I have trained with the German polizei and you have never had your ass beat till one of them took their spring loaded nightstick and put it up side your head.

Every Monday morning in formation, you could tell who tried to grab the brass ring and lost over the weekend.

The thing that you need to remember is much of what the government does benefits it's own or the corporations. It's called fascism. They spend everything we contribute (plus too much more) and even our own SS contributions, so yes they are leaches. And, don't claim defense as an excuse either. I think we pretty much put that shit to bed in 1941. If you want to shout regulatory agencies, just refer to the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the gulf and all of the drugs, money and favors that bought off government employees of The Minerals Management Service (renamed after epic failures: Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement) so BP could do what the fuck they wanted. Pick any fucking department; SEC, IRS, Dept. of Education, FDA, Department of Homeland Security, ICE, FBI, NSA, CIA, DoD, et. al. I don't give a fuck which one you pick, they are all failures IMHO.
