Sorry but I must at Tennessee. Everytime I read about UT I feel better about us. Guy was about their 38th choice. He's been in the north and upper Midwest all of his career and is walking into a dumpster fire with good talent only at the skill positions. Not saying he won't do ok but you are UT - a top 7-8 program all time. Seriously? Yes Brian Kelly came from Cincy but this guy is no Brian Kelly and this guy is coming into a dysfunctional SEC program. Good luck Butch. Maybe you'll prove everyone wrong.

Something interesting. I read an ESPN article from 2006 when ISU hired Chizik. Their 2nd choice they passed up? The HC from Central Michigan named Brian Kelly. Luckily for him the Michigan State job was open and a guy named Mark Dantonio took that job leaving an open HC job at Cincy which was offered to Kelly. Jones was also at C Michigan. I thought the connection was funny.

It was a very underwhelming hire for UT but I do think Jones will be ok there.  50-27 is a hell of a lot better than 5-19.  His first year at Cincy was rough but other than that he has done pretty decent there and at CM.

Rumors on the UT board was that they told Stong he couldn't bring Clint Hurtt with him since he was caught up in the Miami stuff.  They didn't want that around their program and Strong said he wasn't coming unless Hurtt was and it ended the deal.
