I would've rather him come out and said, â€We got our heads caved in and realistically bama could've named their points. I didn't get the players prepared enough, hell, I haven't gotten the players prepared enough all season, that's all on me and sitting back and reflecting on my past 6 years as a HC...I've realized that I don't have what it takes to be a D1 HC and so I'm stepping down as the Head Coach of the Auburn Tigers. I'm deeply sorry for the fans that have witnessed my last year here, it was definitely not my intention on running this program into the ground, a lot of that is squarely on my shoulders and the rest of that is on AD Jay Jacob's. Not to try and place blame elsewhere, that's just the honest truth. With that being said...thank you to the fanbase and I hope you will welcome the next Head Coach and hopefully the next AD with open arms, because you deserve better than what you've gotten these past two years, Auburn deserves better. Deuces (drops the mic as he walks off stage).â€
