Dumb Ways to Die
« on: November 21, 2012, 01:01:38 PM »
I thought that this was a clever and catchy Public Service Announcement but in looking at it from a political perspective, as I usually do these things, I think about the retard voting public that we have in this country as evidenced by the reelection of The Pharaoh; I then wondered how many nitwits must a city have that they find it necessary to produce a 3 minute, catchy infomercial in order to teach people to be safe around trains?

Anyway, the lyrics are very amusing as is the simplistic animation..."scratch a drug-dealers' brand new ride...":

Quote
As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species.

Movie?...I currently think that it's, sadly, a real documentary...

Yep...a documentary...

I don't know why, but we have laughed at this a good bit at the office.

"Use your private parts as Piranha bate" and "Keep a rattlesnake as a pet.  Sell both your kidneys on the Internet"  slay me every time.

But yes, it's dumb that people are too dumb to know to be safe around trains.  Of course this could have been aimed at kids, but I would like to think that parents would teach them this kind of thing.  Then again most a lot of parents suck at parenting.

We had a high school assembly one day and some guy from NHTSA was talking to us about safe driving at train crossings.  Me mentioned that something like 50-60% (don't remember exactly, but it was high) of car train accidents occur because somebody ran into the side of a train that was already crossing.  My best friend and I got sent to detention, him for yelling "Dumbasses" and me for not being able to control my laughter.

You meet a man on the Oregon Trail. He tells you his name is Terry. You laugh and tell him: "That's a girl's name!" Terry shoots you. You have died of dissin' Terry.

Only time I ever saw someone killed up close and personal was in Auburn back when I was a student.  We had stopped at a little gas station that was right up next to the train tracks on College.  I was a passenger and stepped out of the car while my friend got gas.  The lights started flashing and you could see the train coming....and fast.  Just as the train got to the intersection, I saw the lights on the car coming on College.  The track sits on a little rise as you come out of town and this kid was not slowing down.  Literally went airborne as he jumped the tracks.  Only made it half way.  Train centered him up.  Took 700 yards for the train to stop. Me and my buddy made it down there and the conductor was just standing there shaking his head like, WTF dude?  Guy was dead as a doornail, still in the passenger seat all crushed up.

You normally don't win fights with trains and 18 wheelers.

My doctor told me I needed to stop masturbating.  I asked him why, and he said, "because I'm trying to examine you."

Yet there are those who blame the rail system in this country for that type of thing. From the latest census, we are not thinning the herd fast enough.

As a kid I watched this movie where at the end, the stars tried to outrun a freight train and lost. Left a lasting impression on a youngster. "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry".

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Well of course they blame the rail system!  Heaven forbid someone takes personal responsibility for their actions in Obama's America!
