Georgia’s Andrews named SEC Lineman of the Week

Georgia center David Andrews was named the SEC Lineman of the Week for his play in the Bulldogs’ 38-0 win over Auburn. Andrews, a sophomore, had three knockdowns and led a line which allowed just one sack as Georgia racked up 497 total yards including a pair of 100-yard rushers.

All seven of Auburn’s SEC opponents have had a player recognized by the SEC as a player of the week for their play against the Tigers.

Andrews joins Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, Vanderbilt center Joe Townsend, Ole Miss kicker Bryson Rose, Arkansas defensive end Trey Flowers, Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell  and LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery, who were all recognized by the SEC as Players or Co-Players of the Week for their efforts against the Tigers.

Emory Blake was recognized among the ‘Other Outstanding Performers’ with six catches for 104 yards. Georgia’s Aaron Murray (18-for-24 for 208 yards with three touchdowns) and Todd Gurley (116 rushing yards and a touchdown) were also on that list.
