it did not put my guy in office, or even my second choice.

You're saying the exact same thing Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan and every other extreme liberal was saying in 2000.

And it was stupid then.

If you believe in states' rights, you have to support the electoral college. They both exist on the same principle.

I believe in keeping the electoral college but not a winner takes all format. It should be weighted like Neb and Maine do.

You're a fuckin dumbass.....but god forbid anyone question obama in that manner. But Mitt, he's a Mormon. We can't be having that.

Please for be explainin.
The interests of the few, densely populated states should not outweigh the interests of the many, sparsely populated ones. They should be weighted as fairly and equally as possible. The electoral college does that, and does it well in my opinion. It exists to protect the rights of smaller states.

I didn't hear a single Republican bitch about it in 2000, nor a single Democrat endorse it, and yet today everyone it seems has completely flipped their position on it. That kind of hyper-partisan hypocrisy is what drives me insane. Now the opposite side of that same coin, I'd like to see Republicans throw the "this president wasn't even elected" line back at the Democrats that used the shit out of that line from 2000-2004.

Also, I agree with what others said about weighting it like NE & ME. I do believe that would be an improvement on a more fair system. However, it would have to be implemented state-by-state. Who's gonna budge on that first? California or Alabama?

Actually if you can dig up some of my old posts form 2000, you will se that I still was an advocate for a weighted system. It might not have made a difference, but who knows. If you look at a lot of the blue states, the blue only exists in the most densely populated areas. The other "rural" folks get screwed.

This is looking a lot like the lines right before the civil war. Southern and midwest values being trampled by the sardine packed north (and now left coast)!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

The interests of the few, densely populated states should not outweigh the interests of the many, sparsely populated ones.

The problem with the current electoral college is that it isn't protecting anyone from smaller, densely populated urban areas.

Just look at Pennsylvania.  Carville joked that in between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, PA is exactly like Mississippi and Alabama.  But since middle PA doesn't have people living on top of each other, their political desires aren't recognized.

Popular vote won't fix it but weighting the EC will.

I agree. By the same token, Atlanta will go blue every time. Places like Birmingham, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Little Rock have chances to as well.

Move.

I am having a very difficult time today (and the past few days) keeping any kind of objectivity about politics; I believe in the great experiment of America but I've lost all trust and belief in the collective wisdom of the ballot of the retarded electorate of this country.  I wish that I could have the graciousness of Mitt Romney last night but my thoughts are nothing but utter disgust, resignation, extreme disappointment, defiance, scorn, and contempt.

I have become John Galt to the greatest extent that I can make that possible.

"Hey my friends are the ones that wanted to eat at that shitty hole in the wall that only served bread and wine.  What kind of brick and mud business model is that.  Stick to the cart if that's all you're going to serve.  Then that dude came in with like 12 other people, and some of them weren't even wearing shoes, and the restaurant sat them right across from us. It was gross, and they were all stinky and dirty.  Then dude starts talking about eating his body and drinking his blood...I almost lost it.  That's the last supper I'll ever have there, and I hope he dies a horrible death."

This country is full of crybaby entitlist. I, for one, hate the liberal ideologies who promote such a lifestyle. I cannot understand how that asshole got 4 more years. Did folks just not like Romney?

Well, given the choice of the austere, 'grown-up' reality of a Romney presidency (that probably would have eventually led to an economically stronger America) or the soaring, vacuous rhetoric and "I will give you free stuff" mentality of The Pharaoh which would you choose (assuming that you had the intelligence and reason of a turnip like most of the electorate)?

Well, I chose wisely by voting for R&R. "There is a bottom to the barrel", said none of the candidates. How long do the welfare children think we are going to fund their lifestyle? I guess the best thing to do is leave the country and tell them why I'm leaving. Not that it would do any good, but at least I wouldn't be funding their lifestyle.
