2012 DNC Convention: God and Jerusalem Amendment
« on: September 06, 2012, 11:27:19 AM »
I started to post this in the Religious forum but this is more a political demonstration in my humble opinion.  I don't know if anyone even watched this last night but I did and and I was appalled and embarrassed for the DNC.  Well, I'm glad the Democrats decided to reaffirm God at least once in their platform but by the sound of the Delegates voting it's clear to me that the athiest viewpoint and the bigotry against Israel is obvious, and the plurality, if not in the outright majority. What a shame (that they embarrassed themselves on national tv in front of God and everybody watching).

Then, there's the fact that they count, count, and recount the votes then declare the stated purpose anyway (which was already in the affirmative on the TelePrompter and script) despite the vote; talk about Republicans and voter disenfranchisement...pot meet kettle.

They are just trying to uphold the constitutional amendment that specifies the separation of church and state!

Five statements of WISDOM
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friends, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

What cracks me up is that AGAIN, this administration fails to take responsibility.

Left God out?  Someone else's fault.  The Democrats didn't realize it or they would have corrected it a long time ago.  Of course they wanted God in the platform!

Obama says "You didn't build that!"  But you didn't understand him.  Just a misunderstanding.  If you had listened better....

The removal of God didn't shock me.

The part they added about abortion disgusts me.

Quote
The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.

I emailed my Senator, Dick Durbin, asking how he, as a practicing Roman Catholic, can live with himself, being a part of an organization that believes this.  I've not gotten a response back.

You are right; this is another example of utter lack of leadership and, I'd argue, political cowardice; this is who they are and what they stand for; why bother pandering to the religious folk still in the Democrat party; I feel sorry for that Methodist minister from Ohio who bought up the Amendment in the first place; who wants to bet that he'll be casting a ballot for Romney in November in the secrecy of the voting booth?

I'll take that.  From experience, they may not like him, but they damn sure will tote his water for him.

I'll guess we'll have to wait and see which way Ohio goes in the election.  It looks to me that this little show of disdain of people of faith has pissed-off a lot of folk whose votes are needed.

And honestly, I think this really hurts Obama's Christianity angle.  I've been waiting for them to use Romney's Mormonism against him, but that can't happen now.  All the Right has to do is bring up this God debacle and the point is moot.

Well, as former Gov. Huckleberry himself pointed out recently on FoxNews: 'The Pharaoh is the only person running who claims to be an Evangelical', to paraphrase and embellish his words.
