Paul Ryan's selection just moved Hillary Clinton from "possible" to "probable" as Biden's replacement on the 2012 Dem ticket. Look for Slow Joe to find a sudden yearing to become an elder statesman who has more time to spend with his family. I'll bet Hill & Bill are having champagne tonight. Even most of my Democratic friends will admit, if pressed, that it would be a good thing for the country to get Joe Biden out of the line of presidential succession....

I've been reading rumblings in the political forums and aggregate sites that I haunt about this sea-change to the "Hope and Change ticket" too but they always seem to be tempered with the perceived factor that The Pharaoh and the Clintons have no political fondness for one another.  Is it plausible, yes, in my opinion.  The likely time to make the change is at the Dem Convention in Charlotte next month.

There's nothing, and Biden won't stand a chance in an actual debate.

I agree.  Hillary would give him a big chance; this is one political chess-move that causes me some anxiety about this election.

This says it all:

A party can technically nominate and run a new presidential candidate as well as a VP in lieu of a currently sitting president of that party; in the process effectively removing a sitting president from office; I think this almost happened to Jimmy Carter if I recall...don't have time to look it up right now.

That's an interesting "What if" game.  What if the democrats replaced Carter with Kennedy before the 1980 election?  Could Kennedy's name help him beat the less experienced actor, Ronald Reagan? 

And then which direction would the country have gone?

You know...you are right. His ego is that big. Hillary may make him look foolish. After all, she was much more qualified to win the 2008 nomination than him. And he knows it.
